X11

On the initial installation of NetBSD you can choose to install the X11 binaries. For most people, I assume, this would be sufficiant. Myself, having and Nvidia Geforce 8600GS, I found through searching the internet that I should use xorg modular. To do this, you add the following entry in /etc/mk.conf:

X11_TYPE=modular

My first attempt at doing this was after having chose to install the X11 binaries during the initial install. This did not fair to well, so I reinstalled NetBSD without the X11 binaries. This went better, except now when installing binary packages all the X based packages gave me error messages about missing dependancies. I had to install all packages that require X from source.
